What are the features of the Silt Fence?
The silt fence is made of polypropylene materials and comes with UV stabilizers that resist degradation from the sun. It measures 2ft by 100ft in size and includes 11 stakes per roll making it easy to set up. The stakes measure 1 3/4″ x 1 3/4″ x 48in and the silt fence weighs 18lbs. It has a grab tensile strength of 120lbs in the warp direction and 80lbs in the fill direction. It has a grab elongation of 15% in the warp direction and 20% in the fill direction. It also has a Mullen burst of 340 psi and a puncture strength of 60lbs. The trapezoidal tear strength is 60lbs and has a UV resistance of 80%. Lastly, it has an AOS US sieve number of 30 and a permittivity of 10 gal/min/ft².

How do I install the silt fence?
When installing the silt fence, first roll out the silt fence material along the perimeter that you want to protect. Drive the stakes into the ground at least 12 inches away from the silt fence every 8 feet. Be sure to pull the silt fence fabric taut between the stakes and properly secure the fabric to the stakes using zip ties. You may also want to dig a small trench along the line of the fence and bury the bottom edge of the fabric to prevent any sediment from escaping underneath.

Can the silt fence be reused?
While the silt fence is durable, it is not recommended to reuse it once it has been installed. The sediment that accumulates on the silt fence can cause it to lose its filtering capabilities thus making it less effective. In addition, the stakes may become damaged or misshapen, making it difficult to properly secure the silt fence again in the future. It is recommended to use a new silt fence for each application to ensure its effectiveness.
